Coherians are generally a friendly bunch, both introverts and extroverts alike. It would be one of the many reasons that we choose to join a friendship-based coworking community. We enjoy getting together for short bouts of social interaction on a fairly regular basis.

If you take a peek at Cohere’s event calendar, you’ll see that food is frequently featured in our get-togethers, and there’s a good reason for that. Food has been bringing people together since before we began recording history, with evidence of group feasting as far back as 12,000 years ago.

Dialing up the Discussion with Donuts

Every other month or so, members of Cohere are invited to listen to an educational discussion while munching on donuts in the conference room. The morning discussion is led by our members and through the years has covered information about subjects as varied as governance, marketing, climate change, and even pet health.

This event is often sandwiched in with our monthly UltraCoworking event, an ultra-productive morning of coworking and conversation.

Potluck days are often some of our busiest days and some of our most productive. Coming together to feast is something we human beings have been doing for many millennia. It is especially beneficial for communities like coworking communities, to have a chance to socialize over food.

Conversations held during these types of events tend to flow naturally and range over a large number of subjects. Yes, we discuss the food, our pets, our kids, and our current hobbies. We also discuss marketing tactics, productivity tools, losses, successes, and opportunities.

Cohere hosts both catered and uncatered potlucks that typically have a variety of selections. Dishes safe for people with common allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions are frequently available.

Food Forays

Scheduled events aren’t the only time that members socialize over food. The building Cohere is housed in is located just blocks from Old Town Fort Collins, an absolute paradise of food and drink. Members frequently take the opportunity to take a break and walk to their favorite downtown eateries, in many cases, together.

Huzzah! Happy Hour!

Fort Collins is known as the Mecca of Craft Breweries so it shouldn’t be too surprising that we truly enjoy our Happy Hour gatherings. Whether sharing the craft beers that are so plentiful in Northern Colorado or doctoring hot cocoa in the winter, our occasional happy hours offer a great way to relax after a long day of work.

They also offer a fantastic opportunity to get to know one another and network. Like the conversations during potlucks, the conversations at our happy hours flow naturally. They range over a large variety of both personal and professional subjects.

Because Happy Hours often last longer than potlucks, conversations sometimes become more in-depth. Members at these events often uncover new resources and previously hidden intersections between themselves and other members. This can lead to new ways to address both worldly and professional challenges in your life.

Coming together over food has a plethora of fantastic benefits besides just getting fed, and it aligns beautifully with the core values of coworking. Sharing food tends to reduce waste, and it provides a community-oriented environment for people to be open and accessible, often leading to collaboration.
