Winter Bike to Work Day, 2026

Fort Collins has a long cycling history. Mentions relating to bicycling were published in the Fort Collins Courier as far back as 1882, and there are several annual bicycling events, including the NoCo Gravel Stage Race, Tour de Fat, and Winter and Summer Bike to Work days.

The City of Fort Collins has hosted an annual Winter Bike to Work Day for nearly twenty years. This event is open to all, from experienced cyclists to first-time riders, and, despite the name, any destination counts as participation. A map of participating local businesses with refreshment and warming stations set up for the event can be found on the City of Fort Collins website.

Teaming up with Joyride

Cohere has had several Bike to Work stations in the past, including a Stranger Things themed station way back in 2019, just before the Starcourt Mall came to Hawkins. Having a station for this event is a fantastic way for our community to connect with the wider community around us and to encourage sustainable practices.

Joyride is a new name in the Fort Collins community. This queer and women-owned bike hub and café, still in its early stages, is being designed to help foster a sense of community with all levels of bicycle enthusiasts. They are aiming for a physical location by the fall of 2026, a judgment and jargon-free zone welcoming to anyone—particularly the bike-curious, women, LGBTQ+ folks, and anyone seeking an alcohol-free place to connect. If you’re interested in supporting Joyride’s journey, you can support them on their GoFundMe page.

Cohere will be offering refreshments and free day passes to cowork, and the team from Joyride will be making minor bicycle repairs and adjustments for Bike to Work participants.

With long nights and short days, it can be difficult to keep up with our activity goals in the winter, and remote work often feels more claustrophobic than ever. While working at local coffee shops can help with winter-induced cabin fever, they don’t exactly provide a consistently productive environment, nor do they encourage physical activity.

This morning, we have the remedy for both problems. Participate in the Winter Bike to Work Day, stop by the Cohere Coworking station to chat, check your bike, and grab a free day pass to cowork with us. Then, next time you need an alternative to the local coffee shops, come back and cowork with us.
